A progressive web application is a type of application software delivered through the web, built using common web technologies including HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It is intended to work on any platform that uses a standards-compliant browser (chrome, firefox, edge, safari, etc.), including both desktop and mobile devices.

PWA's were first introduced to the developer world in a white paper produced by Apple Inc. in 2014. Apple chose not to go any further with the idea, and Google picked it up around 2015 - 2016. Prior to the appearance of PWA's there were two pathways for software developers. The traditional 'desktop application', built to run directly on the computer with access to all the peripherals (camera, storage, USB, bluetooth etc.) and the web development path, where software is designed to run inside the web browser and cannot communicate with the computer it is being viewed on. However, while traditional developers focused their attention on building 'mobile apps' (a desktop app designed for smaller screens), web developers were working on ways to get their websites to interact with the desktop. The result of that work is the Progressive Web App.
Now that the PWA convention is reaching maturity, web developers are able to interact with a users device in exactly the same manner as a traditional app (application) whether it be on, desktop, tablet, or mobile devices.

Cloud hosting is the process of outsourcing an organization's computing and storage resources to a service provider that offers its infrastructure services in a utility model. - your website performance will not be impacted by any other website, and
- as your website becomes more popular, the underlying structure scales up to ensure your website performance remains high
Distributed web, Web 3.0: With this hosting model you no longer have or need a hosting service. Instead you have a gateway service. Your website files are stored on an encrypted peer to peer network of computers around the planet using blockchain technology. The gateway providers only job is to direct web traffic to your website. As soon as you start using this service you have maximum security, scalability, redundancy, and performance. And because there is no longer a single hosting provider and services are distributed, costs are greatly reduced, in fact usually free for the small start-up site!
